Crisp, cool temperatures are finally here and I couldn’t be more excited. I always get inspired by the ever-changing trends that come with every season, but being the practical shopper that I am, I love getting my basics in order first. This fall, there are definitely new and improved essentials that every girl needs, like menswear-inspired coats, over-the knee boots and luxurious knits. One of the best destinations to grab them is, of course, Nordstrom. You ladies know by now that I’ve been a loyal Nordstrom shopper for years. With affordable brands like Topshop to contemporary favorites to designer labels in their line up, you’re bound to find everything you need to create an effortlessly chic uniform. Fall is the time to let your outerwear shine. This season, consider adopting relaxed, “borrowed from the boys” silhouettes for a laidback, cool-girl vibe. The functionality of this trend is what makes it so alluring. It doesn’t just give you extra room for layers – but it’s flattering on all body types. To avoid looking frumpy, opt for a polished style, like this Topshop coat. The longline cut and double-breasted design ensures your outfit stays elevated.

Cozy Knits

Cozy knits are the ultimate basic for fall whether that’s a versatile sweater or matching set. If there’s one piece that’s proven to be absolutely essential, it has to be the Free People tunic sweater. I wear it year after year and in many different ways. Boots are a defining factor of chic fall style. Although I love a variety of heel and shaft heights, I’m particularly eyeing over knee-high and over-the knee boots in classic suede or leather. Nordstrom has the best of them at any price. I just picked up these Jeffrey Campbell OTK boots and can’t get over how luxe they are. They make your legs seem miles long whether you wear them with a sweater dress or over leggings.

Athleisure

You can never have too many athleisure pieces in your wardrobe – especially through fall and winter. They always come to the rescue when you’re not in the mood to put an outfit together. All you really need to look fashionable is a great coat and cute boots or sneakers.

Fall Dresses

With the holidays coming up, you’ll also want a variety of cold-weather-friendly dresses that you can style for a night out or during the day. To make the most of potential outfit pairings, I usually stick to tweed or ribbed knits fabrics. Either option makes it easy to look glam but keeps you warm and cozy at the same time.
